  1. Beginners Course;
  2. Improvers Course; and
  3. Learn Calligraphy in a Month

Please read the terms carefully as they affect your rights and liabilities under law and set out the terms under which Langham Calligraphy (“Our”, “Us” or “We”) provides services to you, as a purchaser of one of our courses. These terms are subject to any rights you have under consumer law to which we are bound to and which cannot be waived.

1. BEGINNERS COURSE

Course Outline

The Beginners Course is a live led, two-hour workshop which has been designed to support complete beginners to learn the basics of calligraphy.

Course Specifics

Each Beginners Course is available for a specific date. On successful purchase of the course you will be enrolled onto the course and you will receive a confirmation of your booking within 48 hours. Your date for that course is then fixed and cannot be changed without prior agreement. Due to the small group coaching provided it is not often possible to change the date when there is 10 days before the course start date, so please check your diary carefully before booking.

You will be sent a calligraphy starter pack in the post. We know you will be excited for it to arrive so that you can get started, but please bear with us and allow for packing and distribution. Each kit is lovingly packed by hand and should arrive with you 2 working days before the course start date. If you haven’t received the kit by that point then please send Claire an email to claire@langhamcalligraphy.co.uk Your starter kit will include:

  1. A straight natural wood pen holder
  2. A shorthand nib
  3. A pot of homemade iron gall ink
  4. A calligraphy guide sheet
  5. Modern calligraphy worksheets
  6. Plain layout paper

In the run up to the course you will receive all communications and information via email so please ensure you provide an up-to-date email address. On the day before the course you will receive a link to the course via email. All courses are held via the online meeting platform Zoom.

During the two-hour course you will be guided through the basics of modern calligraphy including how to set up and hold your pen, some simple basic techniques and tips on how to write and construct words and short phrases.

It is not intended that you will finish the course and feel completely proficient in calligraphy. This is a course for beginners so only basic techniques are taught. Each individual is unique and their starting position and commitment to the course is unique to them and as a result individual results will vary. We recommend that once you finish the course you spend time in the immediate days following the course to practice your new skills and then to keep practising regularly. The course is an introduction only and failure to continue to practice the skills taught will limit your ability any results and improvement. Whilst the numbers of participants are kept relatively small, this is not a 1:1 course.

Please be aware that the course is delivered entirely in English and no translations are provided for videos or text.
